Kya Kool Hain Hum Movie Review

“Kya Cool Hain Hum” coming from the Balaji stable, which was widely publicized, looked promising when the promos were aired. This movie, unlike Masti, falls flat on its face and turns out to be damp squib.

Balaji Telefilms’ “Kya Kool Hai Hum”, directed by Sangeeth Sivan, stars Tusshar Kapoor, Riteish Deshmukh, Isha Koppikar, Neha Dhupia, Anupam Kher, Shoma Anand, Bobby Darling, Sushmita Mukherjee and Razzaq Khan. As usual, this film was also given lots of hype in Ekta Kapoor’s saas-bahu serials like her previous films (Kyunki Main Jhooth Nahin Bolta, Kuchh To Hai and ‘Krishna Cottage) which were flops.

Karan (Riteish Deshmukh) and Rahul (Tusshar Kapoor) are wannabe cool dudes. And then you have a serial killer who is on the loose. Dr. Screwvala (Anupam Kher) who actually is nutcase is given charge of this case. Rahul is mistaken to be the killer. Enter Inspector Urmila Martodkar (Isha Koppikar) who is a pain in ass (no pun) for every eve-teasing smart-ass. Urmila bolts with Screwvala to solve the case. And a comedy of errors - in fact an erroneous comedy follows. Meanwhile Karan gets into a happy and gay love liaison. He is happy until he finds his lover is gay.

Sangeeth Sivan makes a comeback as a director after the disastrous “Chura Liya Hai Tumne” and “Zor”. But we advise him to take a break and re-think his decision of entering the film industry. ‘Kya Kool Hain Hum’ had everything to begin with but thanks to poor narration ends up being a cheap cousin of ‘Masti’.

Ekta Kapoor should concentrate her energies in making TV soaps instead of producing films.

However thanks to well crafted marketing strategy the movie has opened well. Will it sustain? We are sorry Ekta, better luck next time.
