NDTV, HBO, MTV are the winners at Indian Telly Awards

The Indian Telly Awards - Trade, Technical and Programming Nite seeks to reward excellence in the fields which usually do not grace the limelight, but nevertheless contribute in a major way to the overall performance of a television channel. 10th November was a night of music, colour, fun and recognition of behind the scenes talent in the Indian television industry.

HBO beat out strong competition from Star Movies to take home the award for Best English Movie Channel. For the third year in a row MTV was adjudged the music channel of the year. Another major winner was NDTV India. NDTV bagged six major awards at the fourth Indian Telly awards including the best news channel of the year. The Big Fight on NDTV 24×7 was declared the Best Talk Show, while the special election programme Chai Stop on NDTV bagged the award for the Best Current Affairs Programme of the Year. Gustakhi Maaf on NDTV India won the Best Comic Show award. NDTV’s Pooja Arya won the Best Cameraperson award and Jatin Gupta was voted the best editor.

DD Mumbai was conferred the best Doordarshan Kendra award. Tony and Deeya Singh, along with Rohit Khanna, bagged the award for the best director in the soap and drama category. B P Singh of CID bagged the award for the best director of a thriller. Best music director award was given away to Lalit Sen for Kasauti Zindagi Ki.
