Heartbreak Hotel

Amy Poehler is slated for newlywed blues in the upcoming film The Heartbreak Kid, from Dreamworks Pictures. She will have her heart broken by costar Jason Bateman, who falls for another woman while on their honeymoon.

And you thought you were having a bad day?

The film is a remake of the 1972 classic of the same name, starring Charles Grodin and Cybil Shepherd. Scott Armstrong and Leslie Dixon are writing the screenplay, and James Bobin (Da Ali G Show) is directing, in place of Barry Sonnenfeld. (more…)

Shyamalan joins Warner Bros for his next

M. Night Shyamalan has left his home at Disney, who produced his last four movies, and has signed an agreement with Warner Brothers to distribute his next picture.

Of course, this being M. Night Shyamalan, it could all be a strange plot that will no doubt end in alien invasion or ghosts signing contracts or something.

Shyamalan released The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs, and The Village with Disney, as well as a really lame television documentary, The Buried Secret of M. Night Shyamalan which attempted to set Night up as something supernatural in nature. Maybe that’s why he’s changing studios - they got too close to who he really is. (more…)

Sequel of Saw certain now

It’s as certain as the fact that no one will ever really be able to kill Jason: horror movies will always get a sequel.

Last year’s thiller/horror hit Saw is joining the ranks of movies getting a second serving and with the time table it’s on there’s a good chance it’s going to end up undercooked. According to Cinescape, Saw 2 is set to begin filming in May of this year with a Halloween release. If I sound slightly pessimistic about this, don’t worry, it’s not because I loved the first Saw. It’s just the thought of sequels in general sends chills down my spine.

Romance and Cigarettes: Poster

Everyone wants to try their hand at musicals. It’s like Moulin Rouge released the secret Elton John hiding inside Hollywood’s most elite directors. Though in the case of John Turturro, maybe it’s more like a secret Meatloaf.

Turturro is directing the latest musical this side of Kevin Spacey’s horrific Bobby Darin biopic, entitled Romance and Cigarettes. It’s got a ridiculous cast, filled with people like Kate Winslet, Susan Sarandon, James Gandolfini, Mandy Moore, and the toe-tappin dance machine Christopher Walken.

Walken’s presence alone makes the thing a must see, but the film’s newly released poster offers two other very good reasons.

Juhi and Shahrukh in Paheli

Shahrukh Khan and Juhi Chawla have been one of the most successful onscreen couples right from Darr, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, Ram Jaane, Yes Boss, Duplicate, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani to One Two Ka Four.

The two had even launched their production house together as Dreamz Unlimited. And now Shahrukh has roped in Juhi for a guest appearance role in his latest production Paheli which is being directed by Amol Palekar. However in Paheli Juhi isn’t paired opposite Shahrukh but plays his sister-in-law.

Rani Mukherjee is the leading lady of the film while Amitabh Bachchan also plays an important role.

Juhi will next be seen in My Brother Nikhil where she plays Sanjay Suri’s sister. Also she has a cameo in Suneel Darshan’s Dosti - Friends Forever and is the leading lady in 7 1/2 Phere opposite Irrfan Khan.

Aarti Agarwal attempts suicide

Remember Aarti Agarwal, the newcomer who debuted opposite Karan Nath in ‘Paagalpan’?

After her Bollywood career did not take off, Aarti did well for herself in the South.

The latest shocker to reach our ears is that Aarti tried committing suicide because she could not take rumours linking her to one of her co-stars! Thankfully, her father intervened in the nick of time and rushed her to the hospital.

Antara to direct ‘Mr Ya Miss’

For RGV promises are not meant to be broken, keeping his word, he has asked Antara Mali to direct a film for him.

Initially assigned with the job of scripting and acting in Mr ya Miss, this miss will also step into the director’s shoes. The film was earlier to be directed by J.Chekravarty, but now Verma has given him a boot from this project and has put him on to a new directorial assignment titled Darwaza Bandh Hai starring Aftab Shivdasani.

Mali’s Mr Ya Miss, will go on floors in Mid - April.

After her repeated flops, RGV was expected to stay away from Antara, but on the contrary he has gone ahead and given young Ms. Mali her directorial break.
