Aishwarya Rai’s eagerly anticipated film ‘Mistress of Spices’ directed by Gurinder Chadha’s husband Paul Mayeda Berges which has already released in UK (to release in India this week) is getting sluggish response from the audience and critics, despite their massive advertising budget.
Going by the UK box office figures ‘Mistress of Spices’ opened with disappointing response of GBP 85,563 on 50+ prints. In contrast last week’s Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Humko Deewana Kar Gaye’ opened to a smashing GBP 175,000 on just 43 prints.
Reviewers feel that the film fails to generate any heat. Also the chemistry between the main leads, Aish and Dylan lacks intensity and fire. Fans of Gurinder Chadha are disappointed to come across such a boring treatment given to the story where Aish is forever talking to her spices. (more…)

Director Indra Kumar who has tickled viewers with his previous works like Dil and Masti has come up with new laughathon - Pyare Mohan which is about two disabled friends who wins over their handicap to save their love ladies from a difficult situation along with fun and comedy. Obviously the film wanted to give a message that even disable people can face life happily and courageously. So Indra Kumar made an amusing movie with a serious tone to it. The director’s intentions were beautiful but the outcome is somewhat confusing.

The good news is that Pyare Mohan has good dose of comedy to make you dizzy but the bad news is it also becomes serious at times to actually make you feel guilty that you are laughing at their disability. It seems like the director was himself confused weather to handle the issue with humor or with concern.
Story:
Pyare Mohan (Fardeen Khan, Viveik Oberoi) are two friends who use to be stuntmen in a film company initially but having met with an accident on the sets, Pyare loses his vision while Mohan goes deaf. Alone, they are like any other disable person who get into mess from time to time but together, they are tough spoons who compliment each other in their needs. Pyare becomes Mohan ears and Mohan becomes Pyare’s eyes. This way they are living their life happily. They own a gift shop and they sell love cards. They might be happy but both of them yearn for a girlfriend who understand them and love them genuinely. (more…)

Sandeep Chowta’s latest song ‘Mallika, I hate you’ is turning many heads. The song isn’t about love for a change, yet it’s hitting the headlines and for all the right reasons.
But Chowta's first ever desi single was a tough choice.
No one’s tried making a single before. It was tough convincing retailers that this would work, but the song itself is strong. It works the world over. You have a song ready? You don’t need to wait. It’s a boon for artistes, especially unknown ones. A single that’s a big hit creates goodwill everywhere. Especially with the public, all agog to see what’s going to happen next.
A catchy title like Mallika, I hate you is bound to generate curiosity.
There’s a buzz about the song already (happy mood), though the video’s not out. It’s on the radio, it’s popping out everywhere. People are asking whether the song’s about Mallika Sherawat! (more…)

In her forthcoming venture ‘Ankahee’ Esha Deol is plays the role of Miss Universe who falls in love with a married man. And Esha herself has nothing against extra-marital affairs.
How does she feel about her role in Ankahee?
I was thrilled about being given a lot of attention, which I think I deserve. And the character is exactly like me, or any typical Scorpio - expressive, confident and yes, a tad obsessive. I loved being dressed up as Miss Universe. I thought that with my athletic body I could pass off as a tennis player, but a beauty queen? That was tough.
I could also relate to the character because I play a lonely girl. When I entered the industry, I was completely clueless. I was like a mannequin - people came and did whatever they wanted to. A woman completely ruined my eyebrows. Now I am much smarter. Today if someone even wags his finger at me, he’s had it. You have to be street smart in this industry.
But ‘Ankahee’ seems to justify extra-marital affairs?
You can’t justify falling in love. Love is love. I don’t have anything against extra-marital relationships - I am all for it. (more…)

Fardeen Khan talks about the remake of Feroz Khan’s Qurbani.
We have already announced the remake of Qurbani. I am planning to play my father’s role. It is a contemporary subject which despite being 25 years old, holds true even today. The plot and the characters are contemporary. We have received tremendous reactions just with the announcement of the film. Let’s hope for the best.
Fardeen is now looking forward to his forthcoming film ‘Pyaare Mohan’, slated for April 21 release. So how was it working with Viveik Oberoi?
I am Pyaare who is blind and he is Mohan, who is hearing-impaired. It was a great experience working with Viveik. We shared a great rapport, which extends on the screen and reflects in our work. It was a difficult role. We had to maintain the continuity and react accordingly at all times. I think we make a great team together. (more…)

Mahesh Bhatt’s coming release, Gangster based on crime and love has so far been in controversy because many thinks that the movie has been inspired from gangster Abu Salem’ life but Bhatt has denied allegations saying that the movie is a work of pure fiction.

So what actually is Gangster all about? Gangster is the story of an underworld character who falls in love with a bar girl and puts his life at stake to keep her with him. It is a triangular love story starring Shiny Ahuja - playing the title role of gangster, Kangna playing his love lady and Emran Hashmi is someone whom Kangna falls in love with. According to Mahesh Bhatt, Gangster is not a story of the underworld, but of the human heart in conflict with itself… A story of love and betrayal.
The love story of Daya (Shiney Ahuja) and Simran (Kangana Ranaut) was aberrant. They loved each other even though away from one another, they loved each other although they are dissimilar, they loved each other despite forces want to break them apart and they loved each other despite the fact that Daya was a criminal.
