Mallika Sherawat’s latest release ‘Shaadi Se Pehle’ might not be getting good response at the box office but it hasn’t been able to affect the actress name and fame. The sex siren is soon going to play the Goldie Hawn’s role from Private Benjamin in a plum Hollywood remake project produced by Ravi Walia.

Being a comedy, the film is aptly titled ‘Fauj Mein Mauj’ and will be directed by debutant Murli Nagavalli, who so far has been assistant to Priyadarshan. Mallika will again play the role of a sex bomb in this film too.

The director confirmed, “Yes, I’m directing Mallika in Fauj Mein Mauj.” Talking about his inspiration from Hollywood flick he said, “It has been changed to suit the Indian audiences. The film is a comedy along the lines of the Police Academy series, but set in the army it’s a story of what happens when a sexy young woman joins the army.” On a note of caution he added, “I’m not making fun of anyone, but just making a humorous film. Bollywood star Salman Khan, after long overdue of the ‘1998 black buck killing’ case was sentenced 5 year imprisonment by Jodhpur court on Monday (10 April, 2006). The fact that he has already spent ‘one night out of two in Jail’ has came as a great shock to Bollywood and celebrities, who are considering court judgment ‘too harsh’ for the actor.

Khan who is famous for coming out of court proceedings unharmed was actually pinned down this time due to public holiday following the judgment because of which his lawyers got no chance to move for bail or appeal.

According to sources “even though the police knew about it and had an arrest warrant ready, Salman didn’t get a hint of it”. Yesterday the actor came out of the court muttering “This is a wrong decision”. Khan’s mother Salma Khan after listening the news fell faint yesterday complaining of chest pain. She was soon admitted to Mumbai’s Leelawati Hospital.

Bollywood reaction

Bollywood is in a state of shock as Rs 150 crore of money is riding on Salman across five big-budget productions (Salaam-e-Ishq, Baabul, Partner, God Tussi Great Ho, Jaaneman). The actor’s producers are now saying their prayers and many celebrities are giving their grievances against the judgment. Amisha Patel is almost bronzed while shooting under Goan sun for Farhan Akthar’s Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd. but the tan is making her look sexier.

According to her the shooting for the film was mostly going on the beach almost seventeen hours each day. Initially she tried to protect her skin but finally gave up.

Talking about it Amisha says, “I had barely returned from London and the freezing cold (Aap Ki Khatir), when I started shooting for Honeymoon. I just couldn’t stand the heat! I tried my best to protect my skin but it didn’t help. I’d wake at 4.30 a.m. and apply sun block lotion. I was a little apprehensive because I thought it wouldn’t look nice on screen. Do you know which is Esha Deol’s toughest role? Her character Kavvya in Vikram Bhatt’s ‘Ankahee’ (yet to release) where Esha plays the role of Miss World, who falls in love with a married man and later become obsessed with him.

The Deol gal talks about the stress she underwent while enacting the character. “There were these long scenes where I had to rattle pages of dialogues at the top of my voice. It had left me so shaken that almost everyday, I would start throwing up,” said Esha. (more…)

Ananth Mahadevan after the success of Aksar is working on an adaptation of Daphne Du Maurier’s classic novel ‘Rebecca’. But he won’t be making a period drama. He will change the setting to the modern scenario.

Mahadevan is reportedly considering Emraan Hashmi, Dino Morea, Ayesha Takia and Celina Jaitley for the cast.

The novel revolves around an inexperienced young woman who marries a widower Maxim de Winter and settles into his ancestral mansion, Manderly. She later realises that the memories of her husband’s deceased first wife Rebecca continue to overpower their lives.

Bipasha Basu has long retured from Brazil where she shot for Dhoom 2 with Hrithik Roshan, Uday Chopra and Aishwarya Rai but the sexy beauty can’t stop raving about the her trip to the place always high on sun, sea and sights.

Bipasha said, “It was great fun! This was the first Hindi film (Dhoom 2) to be shot there and Brazil is a fun place. Uday has stayed back for a holiday. We all had a blast and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.”

The actress also told that since she looked like a local there, she blended in with the Brazilians. She said, “one day, I was sitting in a front of a shop in Rio, and someone, thinking I was a local, started asking me the price of stuff. Kareena Kapoor has hit a jackpot. She has been signed by Ramgopal Varma to play Shah Rukh Khan’s sweetheart in a film on time travel titled ‘Time Machine’.

This will be Kareena’s second film opposite Shah Rukh. If you remember Kareena has already featured with SRK in his home production ‘Asoka’ and is currently doing a cameo (Helen’s role) in Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Don’ starring Shah Rukh and Priyanka Chopra in the lead.

Kareena was earlier doing a sci-fi film with Harry Baweja titled ‘Love Story 2050′ opposite his son Harman Baweja but she opted out of it. Now there’s a buzz that she opted out of Harry’s film to do this one, with a bigger banner and a bigger star.
