Shooting of B.R.Films eagerly-awaited ‘Baabul - a family saga’ with strong social message, is now going at a break neck speed since the filmmakers want to release it during Diwali this year.

The shooting of the film will be completed by July with Scenes and songs, including the one rendered by Amitabh Bachchan and Salman Khan, will be picturised. Aadesh Srivastava has scores the music while lyrics are by Sameer.

Being made under the banner of B.R.Films, the film is being produced by B.R.Chopra and directed by Ravi Chopra who earlier gave superhit ‘Baghban’ which was on the lines of aged couple forced to live apart and tormented by their unconcerned children. (more…)

Movie Review: Shaadi Se Pehle

What happens in the mind of most of the couples before marriage (Shaadi Se Pehle)? Confusion, fright, panic and misunderstandings. And this is what director Satish Kaushik wanted to reflect through this light entertainer. But don’t pull your hopes too high because apart from the top star cast (Akshaye Khanna, Ayesha Takia, Aftab Shivdasani, Mallika Sherawat, Rajpal Yadav, Boman Irani, Anupam Kher and Sunil Shetty) and interesting story, the movie is like a luke-warm shower which you might not find too alluring.

Story:
Ashish Kapoor (Akshay Khanna) and Rani (Ayesha Takia) is a couple who are pretty much in love with each other. Ashish has a problem. He tries to stop even the slightest level of tension, by popping a pill to control his shaken nerves. This comes to the notice of Rani’s family members who in turn try to separate them. And if that was not enough for Ashish, there is his friend Rohit (Aftab Shivdasani) who wants Rani to be his, so keep trying to create confusion between lovers. Despite all this, Rani genuinely loves Ashish and sticks to him.

However, when Ashish goes to visit his doctor, he misunderstands the doctor’s diagnosis of hypertension to cancer and thinks that he has only one year to live. (more…)

Everyone knows that Shah Rukh Khan is a great actor and equally great father. This summer he is planning a summer break from Bollywood to take his family on a grand holiday.

So far SRK has been shooting non-stop, first for Karan Johar’s ‘Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna’ in US and now for Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Don’ in Malaysia.

Actor Saif Ali Khan who went through an emergency appendectomy on Thursday at Kuala Lumpur while shooting for an ad says he is fine now. The only shoot to have been affected by Saif’s ill health is Vishal Bhardwaj’s Othello where he was supposed to return on Friday. Now Vishal will shoot Saif’s remaining portion in Mumbai, whenever possible.

On the professional front, Saif is most excited about Othello. “The cast of this film has a great mix of so-called thinking and commercial actors. You have the NSD bunch like Naseeruddin Shah on one hand, and commercial actors like Ajay Devgan and me, on the other. We used to have great fun on the sets, referring to each other disparagingly, saying things like, “You theatre-wallah” or you “commercial type”,” he laughs.

“I must say that the highbrow NSD crowd has scant respect for us commercial stars. They feel ‘Unko kya ma1oom (what does they know)? I don’t think too many directors are too comfortable working with actors from both genres. Actress Mona Chopra who was upset plus confused over her dress changing MMS has slammed media for instead of sympathizing with her; they are calling it a publicity gimmick and projecting her in bad light.

The actress was not sure if the girl in the clip is her since she hasn’t been able to see the MMS. But she still maintains that her nude MMS is a reality. She said, “I got to know about it from my friends in the US who had seen the MMS. I have a dozen white shirts but it doesn’t mean that the woman in the clip is me.”

Also she maintains this is no publicity stunt. “If I get molested, people will think I am doing it for publicity? This is a tragedy.” “If this had happened with any other established star then media and audiences would have sympathized with her and would have called it a spy camera’s hazard,” said Mona talking on the double standards of media. It has come to our knowledge that when Mallika Sherawat was offered Shaadi se Pehle initially she was apprehensive about doing the film and at one stage refused the offer. Why? She wasn’t quite sure of playing second fiddle in the film.

Also the sex bomb after getting too much attention from international front (her tiny-winy role in The Myth) and accolades from Time magazine had started taking herself too seriously. She had even started hoping for different roles, other than what she was offered at that moment.

So even though she was excited about the prospect of doing a film with Mukta Arts she wasn’t sure. At that moment the director of Shaadi Se Pehle, Satish Kaushik and her secretary Kalim convinced her doing the film. Actress Aishwarya Rai is going very hard on herself these days. Her tight schedule and bad weather conditions in Rio de Janeiro where she was shooting for Dhoom 2 literally left her speechless. She has now been diagnosed with laryngitis.

Aishwarya said, “I can barely speak. Though my voice is getting better, it will take some time for it to get back to normal.” The infection has even made the actress postpone the shoot for J.P. Dutta’s Umrao Jaan in Lucknow.

For now, the actress is yet recovering from the overwhelming response she received at Melbourne. Ash undertook a 34-hour journey from Brazil, where she was shooting for Dhoom 2 to represent India at a performance with other actors at the Commonwealth Games finale. (more…)
