Omkara is the title of Vishal Bharadwaj’s next with Saif

After much ado and discussion, Vishal Bharadwaj has decided the title of his next Ajay Devgan - Saif Ali Khan starrer movie.

Vishal himself in an interview revealed that his adaptation of Shakespere’s ‘Othello’ would be titled - Omkara.

The film stars Saif Ali Khan, Bipasha Basu, Konkona Sen Sharma, Vivek Oberoi, Ayesha Takia, Ajay Devgan, Kareena Kapoor and Naseeruddin Shah in lead roles.

The movie - Omkara - is scheduled to start shooting in March and is planned to be completed by the stretch of 2006.

Kabul Express ready for Release

Director Kabir Khan who has just finished a gruesome four month long schedule of the movie ‘Kabul Express’ in Afghanistan is back home and giving finishes touches to the film.

Starring John Abraham and Arshad Warsi as two Indian journalists on an assignment to cover the Taliban’s hold on Afghanistan, Kabul Express draws on the director’s own experiences of shooting in the troubled country. Legendary composer Naushad is dead

Naushad Ali - The legendary Composer dies at the age of 86An entire musical era, spanning 60 years came to an end with the death of Naushad Ali, who became a legend with his Indian classical music laced composition in Hindi films in the 40s and 50s, when the movie industry was at a nascent stage, died of a cardiac arrest on Friday (5th May, 2006).

He was 86, and is survived by six daughters and three sons. Born in Lucknow on 25th December 1919, he studied under Ustad Ghurbat Ali, Ustad Yusuf Ali and Ustad Babban Saheb. (more…)

36 China Town: Movie Review

36 China Town: Movie Review

First thing First; ‘36 China Town’ is no way comparable to 1974 cult classic suspense potboiler ‘Chinatown’ starring Jack Nicholson. 36 China Town isn’t even a thriller. 36 China Town is at best a moderate masala film with a medley of songs, comedy, romance, murder, suspense, bikinis and bums.

Abbas-Mastan who gave us hit like Khiladi, Baazigar, Soldier, Humraaz have a strange habit of dishing out half hearted attempts like Daraar, Baadshah and more recently Taarzan: The Wonder Car. At 36 China Town, loaded with an atrocious script they again find the going tough, try too hard and eventually mess it all up. (more…)
