Picture this. A boy meets a girl, they run around trees , sing soft numbers, a villain tries to snatch her, boy fights him for her, wins her and they lived happily ever after….is dat what you call indian cinema ? Think again. indian cinema is beyond the sob-n-sigh drama and far more intriguing than any of the faceless Hollywood flicks. indian cinema stands out as one of its kind when it comes to varied roles that it plays for everyone of us. Bollywood of india is the biggest film industry in the world and time and again has proved its worth with movies that have conquered the overseas market. indian cinema has been a name to reckon with at the international film festivals. Even regional movies have been a frequent winners at the major film festivals across the globe. With an annual turn over of 4,000 Crores you’ve got to be charmed.

So, what makes indian cinema indian? How is it different from other international movies. Well… there is an answer with each one of us. indian cinema still is one of the major professors of fanily values till date. Hollywood has completely and other international film industries have almost lost their interests in family values. Movies are based on rocket-speed action, breath-taking visuals and a combo of technical expertise mixed with individualistic side to the storyline.

Bollywood music has also come a long way. There is international feel to the film tracks for which credit goes to the high-tech song recording studios.Songs and dances have always been a highlight of indian cinema. it blends the story together and is an integral part of indian film narration. Family Affair : Bachchan clan in the same flick

A treat for the movie-goers! Legendary Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan and the current reigning Bollywood heart-throb Abhishek Bachchan are slated to star together in director Pradeep Sarkar’s next movie. According to PTi, the movie is to be produced by the big-banner Yash Raj Films. The casting of the movie has already fuelled the gossip engines in the industry. Amitabh is quoted as saying that “My wife Jaya, Abhishek and i will start in Pradeep Sarkar’s next movie”.

The movie is first of his kind were the elite family of Bollywood is starring together. There are revelations that even family friend, Rani Mukherjee and Shabana Azmi may be part of the esteem cast. The locales of the movie are in the city of Varanasi. Pradeep Sarkar made his directorial debut with Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Parinneta, starring Saif Ali, Vaidya Balan and Sanjay Dutt. it is believed that the director will stick with his simple appeal to the movie and bring out the best from the best.

Bollywood Brat Salmaan gets a breather

Again a delay stretches an already long trial proceedings of the hit-and-run case involving Bollywood star Salmaan Khan. The court has deffered the case till December 20 in the absence of Additional Chief Metropolitan D.A. Joshi. Salmaan has already been exempted from any further personal apperances in the court.

Earlier, Magistrate Joshi had taken a strict stand and had said that the court will be hearing the case every wednesday. The trial proceedings involves 64 witnesses, out of which only 5 have been examined over the period of 3 years. The absence of Joshi on this wednesday has further delayed the proceedings for more than a month’ s time.

On September 28th 2002, in sub-urban Bandra, Salmaan banged his car into a bakery,killing one and wounding four others. These four injured will be examined in the court at the next hearing. The whole saga proves that our judicial structure is still blind when it comes to celebrities and elite members of the society. And as the saying goes..”Justice delayed is justice denied”. Agree??

Meet Ritesh Deshmukh : The actress !

Folks! There is no mistake in the heading. Ritesh Deshmukh will be decked up as a woman for major part of his forthcoming movie Apna Sapna Money Money. Under the Mukta Arts banner, this promising comic flick has been directed by Santosh Sivan of Kya Kool hai hum fame. The major USP of the movie is Ritesh Deshmukh who has been projected as “the man with different faces”, falling in one problem and then tumbling into the other. The trailor of the song “Guitar” shows a beautiful actress (oops! -actor) Ritesh raising the oomph bar with none other than the comedy legend Anupam Kher.

Director Santosh Sivan was quoted as saying “When Ritesh used to come on sets dressed like a woman, we all used to jump saying there comes the fourth actress of the film”. Now, does that scare any of the bollywood barbies??

Girl Power On TV : Winners take it all !

And the first indian idol is ….. Abhijeet Sawant. Not Prajakta Shukre! Remember, how often we are hopeful that a girl will win a reality show title, but ultimately, its a man’s game. Not anymore. With the crowning of Sanchita Bhattacharya as the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little champion, there is a welcome change. Back in indian idol 2 as well, Antara Mitra finished fourth in the league of idol hopefuls.

There were eye-brows raised in the voting patterns that always showed a bias towards the male contenders. Promising crooner Himani Kapoor bowed out of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005 leaving the stage open for the male competitors again. But, after all the scepticism and blame-game, its the talent and the charm oozing out of Sanchita that got you. Right? Now she’s married, now she’s not. Marriage was an old lime-light snatcher, now, divorce is the latest trend in the Hollywood. Wows taken for a life? Noways, we-dont-gel-together attitude is ‘hip’ in Hollywood. Pop princess Britney Spears and Hollywood actress Resee Witherspoon are the recent entries to the long list of Hollywood Matrimonial disasters. You aint considered trendy if u dont ditch your boy . So, Britney filed for a divorce against her husband, Kevin federline.

Federline has a reputation for being a broke and a free-bird even in serious relationships. Now, the couple is fighting over seeking sole custody of their children. And following this, in a more unfortunate case, Hollywood actress Witherspoon filed for divorce against her husband, Ryan Phillippe and yet again, filing for physical custody of their children. Come on! hot mamas and daddys, pay a little attention to your babies, i say. What do u say??

International honour for kukunoor’s Dor

Nagesh Kukunoor’s Dor will be the opening film at the Atlanta film festival. After critical appreciation in the domestic circut, the film is set to make a foothold in the global arena. The movie will also be screened at indo- American Arts Council (iAAC) in New York. This Saturday celebrates the 50-day run of the movie. it was a Sahara One Motion Pictures’ and Percept Picture Company’s joint venture, who have produced recent flicks like Hanuman, Corporate, Malamaal Weekly etc.

The movie revolves around two women from different walks of life and how destiny brought them together, i.e., the connection or Dor. Ayesha Takia, Gul Panag, Shreyas Talpade star in the main lead. Veteran actors like Girish Karnad also lend class to the impressive story telling of Kukunoor.
