NEW YORK - Sirius Satellite Radio announced Thursday that multi-platinum artist 50 Cent will create his own exclusive programming for the satellite radio provider. 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, will host “G Unit Radio” on Saturdays on Shade 45, the uncensored, hip-hop radio channel co-produced by Sirius and the rap and hip-hop artist Eminem.
Shade 45, created by Eminem, Shady Records, Interscope Records and Sirius, launched in October 2004, the same month Howard Stern announced he would leave traditional broadcast radio to join Sirius, starting next year.
“Eminem and 50 Cent are two of the biggest names in hip-hop today,” Sirius President of Sports and Entertainment Scott Greenstein said in a statement. “On Shade 45, 50 Cent will bring G Unit’s world to Sirius listeners.”
50 Cent’s radio show, co-hosted by Whoo Kid, is set to debut Friday Feb. 25 on Shade 45.
