Lucky has wonderful first week, Waqt expected to follow suit

This weeks releases include Vipul Shah’s Amitabh-Akshay-Priyanka starrer ‘Waqt-The Race Against Time ‘ and ‘Dreams’ . Of the two its common sense that the 18 crore to 20 crore budget ‘Waqt-The Race Against Time ‘ is the one that has a good chance at the box-office . However ordinary advance booking and poor music by Anu Malik (resulting in below the mark audio sales) are the two hurdles that the movie must overcome for a good start and for that we have to wait and watch .

Openings of ‘Mumbai Xpress’, ‘Kuch Meetha Ho Jaye’, ‘Khamosh … Khauff Ki Raat’ and ‘Hazaaron Khwaishen Aisi’:-

All the four realeases of last week had ordinary to poor opening. While ‘Mumbai Xpress’ fared best with around 35 to 40 percent and may get decent collections from Bombay and a few other metro’s but that wont be enough, ‘Kuch Meetha Ho Jaye’, ‘Khamosh … Khauff Ki Raat’ had below 30 percent openings while Sudhir Mishra’s critically acclaimed ‘Hazaaron Khwaishen Aisi’ had a poor opening.

Verdict :- As we had indicated last , all the four above mentioned new releases are more or less certain to flop at the box-office but we have to wait for ‘Mumbai Xpress’ collections before giving a final verdict.

‘Lucky - No Time For Love’:-

The excellent initial and the wonderful weekend (despite some drop on Monday and again on Thursday) assured that ‘Lucky - No Time For Love’ obtained good collections and managed very good shares. The MG Royalty was recovered in the first week itself , all over India . The second weekend has also been quite good.

In the overseas it has been a mixed bag as the movie crashed in US but was quite stable in UK , for a total of about 3 crore from both.
