After SRK and Priyanka, dude Arjun Rampal is the latest star to join the cast of Farhan Akhtar’s new Don

The movie is much hyped remake of yesterday’s blockbuster ‘Don’ and Arjun Rampal is singed to play Pran’s role in it. Shah Rukh Khan is of course playing the title role, while Zeenat Aman’s role will be played by Priyanka Chopra.

Arjun Rampal character will have some similarities with the role essayed by Pran in the 1978 Don.

Things have changed from the last month as Akshay Kumar was scheduled to play the great role but reports came which suggested that Akshay turned down the remake, because he is presently concentrating on his three comedy films.

Farhan said “Arjun was the only choice and his body language fitted in with our concept right from day one. His character will be coming out of jail too, but there will be certain twists in the film.”

The filmmakers have also signed Ishaa Koppikar for a vital role. This character is not based on anyone from the original Don but is completely new. With every passing day Farhan Akhtar’s Don is taking a definite form.

This remake of ‘Don’ will have songs by Javed Akhtar, although ‘Khaike paan Banares wala’, the chartbuster from the original movie will be kept intact.

Filmmaker Farhan Akhtar says, New Don will be gadget-friendly
Akhtar told in an interview” My Don will be gadget-friendly for sure, though I won’t over do the gizmos. We’ve to keep in mind the technological advancement since (the original) Don was released. For instance, mobile phones would play a big part in my Don”.

When asked why he was remaking the 1970s classic he said it was” the one Amitabh Bachchan flick that has stayed with me since my childhood.
Akhter thinks of all the cool films Amitabh did in the 1970s, and Don was the coolest.”

He agreed there would be comparisons between the original and new versions and he wants more people to come to watch his new Don just to compare it with the old one.

Arjun Rampal now has three huge films in his bag!

The first is the Apoorva Lakhia (Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost) directed action thriller EK AJNABIwhere he stars opposite Amitabh Bachchan. The movie is known to be a remake of the Denzel starrer MAN ON FIRE. This crime thriller by Bunty Walia and Jassi Walia has Big B as the central character, a man taking revenge. The film was wrapped up in Bangkok in quick time. If reports are true it is believed that Arjun Rampal is playing a villain. Perizad Zoriban co-stars.

The second is Karan Johar’s grand multi starrer KABHIE ALVIDAA NA KEHNA. Arjun Rampal replaces John Abraham who opted out of this film to star in the Sanjay Gupta directed thriller ZINDAA. (ZINDAA too is a remake of MAN ON FIRE but here Sanjay Dutt plays the role of the avenging crusader and John the villain. Abraham has said that the role in KABHIE ALVIDAA NA KEHNA did not offer him much scope at all and he didn’t want to play a guest appearance.) The film co-stars Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, and Abhishek Bachchan in the male leads and Rani Mukherjee , Preity Zinta in female leads. Karan was also recently in the news over the dispute of the title of ‘Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna

Thirdly is Farhan Akhtar DON Remake, which you all know by now.
