Aamir Khan file a suit of Rs.210 million against Filmfare
Bollywood star Aamir Khan whose latest film Rang de Basanti was a box office hit has sued film magazine Filmfare, for Rs.210 million (USD 4.7 million) for “falsely” using his name in its advertisements to promote their annual awards that were held Saturday night.
The ad shows him wanting to get the Filmfare award trophy - the “Lady in Black”. But Aamir never gave permission for the using his name and picture in the advertisement and has charged them with misrepresenting him.
Khan’s lawyer Anand Desai told, what Filmfare had done was unethical. Filmfare had used the names and photographs of several actors in its advertisement campaign in the run-up to the awards function on 20th February.
Aamir, however, is said to have avoided attending any film awards function in the past few years.
