Want to spot Aamir Khan and Kajol! These days they are exploring the isolated stations in Panvel (Navi Mumbai) shooting for Yashraj Productions’ Fannah, directed by Kunal Kohli.

On the sets:

The station was thronged with the onlookers. Against the tracks for the out-station trains at platform no.4 were huge utensils where lunch was being prepared. A train stood stranded out of the platform and several buses and vans were lined in the parking. What’s happening?

According to the shooting plans, the site was reminiscent of a rehabilitation camp with food being cooked in huge amount for the disaster-struck passengers.

Although the there was a tight security with security guards armed with walky-talkies but the crew was able to pour in some details.

The shooting was initially supposed to take place in New Delhi station but “due to permission naggings by the authorities we preferred Panvel and Apte Gaon stations which we have re-christened as New Delhi, but just for the time being!” explained a crew member.

“It’s chilling cold according to the scene, that’s why you see Aamir in woollen jerseys and mufflers,” told a crew member while pouring in ud or loban in the coal fire (this is done to create a misty atmosphere). When you put this loban in the coal fire, mist is produced which creates a foggy atmosphere which we need for this scene.”

Imagine the scene:

The director was consistently moving to and fro commanding the passengers to behave in a ‘certain way’ when the train moves.

And in the middle of the scene - a group of surds chatting over the window, a lady busy over the phone, the other one sitting opposite to her sleeping soundly, their comes the Kajol with a grim expression.

She is wearing a yellow salwar kameez and looks young enough to play the character of a college student. She meets Aamir who plays guide in the movie and leaves for Jammu by the Jammu Tawi Express. Aamir is left love-struck staring helplessly at the passing train… and the director shouts “cut”.
