Amisha Patel optimistic about Humko Tumse Pyaar Hai
Humko Tumse Pyaar Hai is releasing after a long delay but Amisha is optimistic about its fate. She has a many films lined for release. But the actress is not worried as she is getting good roles.
How do you feel about Humko Tumse Pyaar Hai that is releasing after so many years?
The film still looks fresh. It’s sad that the co-producer and director Bunty Soorma passed away while shooting was in progress. But it’s his dream which has been realised and I hope it does well. It’s a wonderful film.
Next, Amisha will be seen in Harry Baweja’s Teesri Aankh - The Hidden Camera where she plays a mute girl. Interestingly Patel’s sign language teacher is the same person who taught Rani Mukerji for Black.
It’s not every day that you get interesting characters to portray in an acting career. Teesri Aankh is a suspense thriller, in which I’m playing a mute who witnesses a murder. She’s at a disadvantage because of her handicap. I prepared to portray a mute by learning sign language, which is not easy.
You again got the opportunity to work with your Gadar co-star Sunny Deol who is playing a cop in Teesri Aankh.
Sunny is professional as ever. But one thing I must say is that he’s only getting better with age. Contrary to the serious and sober impression most have of him, he’s a very warm person with a good sense of humour.
Having mentioned the elder Deol, she can’t resist mentioning the younger one.
Bobby is a fantastic co-star to work with.
Another delayed release will be Anubhav Sinha’s Tathastu, opposite Sanjay Dutt.
Here I’m playing a mother once again (after Gadar), in a very performance-oriented role. It’s a very real story about a couple’s struggle to save their child from a fatal ailment. A story that people will easily relate to as it shows how far a couple can go when their child’s life is at stake.
How do you choose you roles?
Half the battle is won when an actor is signed to play the part because she fits the role perfectly. Before you can perform convincingly, you have to first look convincing in that role.
Patel is also very excited about the Vikram Bhatt directed Ankahee based on incidents from Bhatt’s own life. The actress will portray a character inspired by his ex-wife.
You know that it’s based on real instances and characters inspired from real life. What would happen if a husband were attracted to another woman? It’s about relationships, the complications that people get into, how they affect one another and how they’re sorted out.
You have been signed for Dharmesh Darshan’s Aap Ke Khatir and Farhan Akhtar’s Honeymoon Travels. Are their much more?
I haven’t signed too many films. I’ve always believed in doing selective films with scope to perform. I’m in the process of signing two more interesting films. That’s it.”
Patel was away on Valentine’s Day, shooting for Aap Ke Khatir in London.
I’ve always worked on Valentine’s Day.
