Amitabh Bachchan established himself with angry roles

Amitabh Bachchan started career in Bollywood with some less known films like “Saat Hindustani,” “Parwaana,” “Reshma Aur Shera”, he did guest appearance in “Guddi” but the film “Zanjeer” changed his image and his luck .Amitabh was considered too tall for Bollywood and was rejected for his height and appearance initially and after “Zanjeer,” he started getting movie offers for his display of anger onscreen that matched his height and looks.

Amitabh Bachchan never looked back after 1973 and created history by giving superhits and extremely successful movies. What went in favor of Bachchan was “the Indian society was undergoing a change, with the middle and low class families, struggling hard to earn better status and Bachchan portrayed the anger and tension this class from his performance. He was helped by the class of movie makers and writers, who wrote films to match his image.

Bachchan was benefited because, the films that were initially made in Bollywood were mostly romantic, thriller, drama, family and with his entry, the films were basically action movies with lots of intensity drama onscreen. Bachchan succeeded because he played the less valued, common man who challenged the authority. Bachchan depicted the struggle of common man for power and money with great intensity. It is amazing that today advertisements, promotional bring people to theatres but when Bachchan was ruling Bollywood, people waited for his films to release.

After years of dominating Bollywood Bachchan left movies in 90’s and was back in 2003, when he played the struggling father of four sons’ .The common man’s pain was depicted by him, perfectly in “Baghban.” On 11th October Bachchan entered another year of his life, although the start was not very promising, but his fans wish him luck for the coming year.
