Ash bags distribution rights of The Last Legion in India
First winning the Miss World beauty pageant, then making her mark in Bollywood, then shaking the Hollywood with her looks and performance, Ash is now becoming film distributor in India for her first international project The Last Legion.
Ash - a warrior, in The Last Legion has done some really tough sword fighting scenes, stunts and horse riding in the film. Audience will see her climbing walls and hanging some 400 feet above sea level.
The movie is directed by Doug Lesler and has Sir Kingsley Tolinsirth in the lead role opposite Aishwarya. The movie is a big production venture with a budget close to USD 70 million.
The film is set against the fall of the Roman Empire in 470AD and its last emperor, 12-year-old Romulus Augustus (Thomas Sangster). Over-run with rebellion, Rome is a city on the brink of chaos and destruction. Imprisoned by rebels on the island of Capri, Romulus, aided by the clever strategies of his teacher Ambrosinus (Sir Ben Kingsley) and the heroic skills of his legionnaire Aurelius (Colin Firth), he escapes the island.
This small band of Roman soldiers, accompanied by Byzantine warrior Mira(Aishwarya), are determined to continue their mission to restore the Empire. The Last Legion is an epic adventure based on acclaimed author Valerio Massimo Manfredi’s international best-selling 2003 novel by the same name.
This 2006 will see Ash’s three Hollywood releases The Last Legion, Provoked, and Mistress of Spices. Back home JP Dutta’s Umrao Jaan opposite Abhishek Bachchan is going full circle and she will be leaving for Brazil in the last week of this month for the shooting of Dhoom 2.
