Aishwarya Rai, who plays a courtesan in J.P. Dutta’s Umrao Jaan, would mersemerize the viewers with her charm. Aishwarya has eternal beauty about her and she has already shown what a skilled dancer she (Kajra Re song).

People will see her reverberating the glimmering City Palace in the stillness of the night, on Alka Yagnik’s mujra song before Abhishek Bachchan (playing Nawab Sultan).

Umrao Jaan is J. P. Dutta’s adaptation of the Urdu novel “Umrao Jan Ada” by Mirza Haadi Ruswa. It is a tale during the Indo-Pak partition days about a young girl Ameeran (later Umrao), abducted from her family home and thrown into the world of kothas of Lucknow.

The story is of the loss of her innocence from a child to a woman and then a courtesan. She goes through the different stages of her life and finally makes a futile search for her parents who ultimate in the end reject her for being a tawaif. The film also narrates her love stint with two men who admire her beautiful voice and dance but because of her destiny and the society, she couldn’t have them.

The shooting of the J.P Films ‘Umrao Jaan’ has completed with only a patchwork still pending, which will be completed next month. The cast of the film includes Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, Suniel Shetty, Puru Raaj Kumar, Divya Dutta, Himani Shivpuri, Ayesha Julka, Bikram Saluja and Kulbhushan Kharbanda.
