Banana Brothers - a humor dose

Film Banana Brothers that takes a humorous look at NRI’s, is the effort of TV artist turned director Girija Shankar, well known of his role as Dhritarashtra in B.R. Chopra’s “Mahabharat”. Shankar is releasing the film Feb 10, which also happens to be his birthday.

‘Banana Brothers’ is a comedy made in English with a dash of Punjabi and Gujarati, shows the difficulties faced by Indians who migrate to foreign lands in search of money and success, with a pinch of a humour.

The film revolves around taxi driver Baldev Singh (Gursewak Mann) who migrates to the US from Punjab to fulfill his dreams. He meets a Gujarati called Ketan Patel (Anupam Kher) who also has the same dreams. As both of them nurture similar aims and aspirations they join hands and start a business.

While they are still putting in efforts to make it big in America, the two struggling businessmen bump into scheming producer Rajinder Kumar (Gulshan Grover). Then starts the funny twists and turns as the film shows how the two (Baldev and Ketan) keep alive their spirit in spite of all odds. Other in the cast has Seema Malhar, Mary L. Carter, Radha Saluja and Johny Lever.

Renowned ghazal maestro Jagjit Singh and Jai Dev Kumar a well-known name in the Punjabi music industry have done the film’s music. The film has been shot in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
