Black focuses on a part of life that every human has to go through. A dark phase of despair that every human has to overcome.

Black is based on a real life character, a legend so to speak in Sanjay’s words.

- The budget is 15 crore.
- The story of Black is set in Shimla and the cold snowy weather will be shown on screen to its full affect.
- The film ‘BLACK’ seems to be set in the Winter early last century
- Other shooting spots are Kufri, the Ridge, a 120-year-old building, Mall and other surrounding places of this erstwhile capital of the British Raj.
- A large cross has been constructed on the set at the hotel where the mahurat was shot.
- There is a Christian angle to the story and the Church of the Ridge, has also been apart of the shoot.
- BLACK was to be shot in both ENGLISH and HINDI but now it seems only HINDI version will be released initially.
- its a kinda gloomy mysterious film (like ‘The Others’)
- Rani is Christian (Catholic) Who is really playing the deaf and blind person seems a mystery going by the pics

Amitabh
- Both Rani and Nandana Dev Sen play sisters.
- Amitabh plays the role of her teacher of deaf and blind and teaches Rani.
- It is rumered that Amitabh learned sign language for the movie ‘BLACK’.
- Its a musical Drama but an intense drama between the three principal characters of Rani Mukherji Amitabh Bachchan and Nandana Dev Sen.
- The story unfolds at one place, I guess Amitabh’s house It may be a church of some kind could it be the place where Rani lives. Only time will tell. (The place is too mysterious).
- Amitabh seems to be playing his age if not older than his age in Black
- Rani is looking out of this world
- Sabyasachi Mukherji has designed Rani’s look in the film.
- Black is stark and dark i.e no heavy colours and lights like his previous movie ‘Devdas’ - But more of shadows and magical shapes, incorporating visuals that are emotionly driven.
- Rishi Kapoor’s son Ranbir and Anil Kapoor’s daughter Sonam are both assisting Bhansali on the sets of Black.
- The Movie has no songs but only background score provided by Mychael Danna

Some qotes which should be given a look to understand what is in store:

Helen Keller
quote
- “I’ve read all I could about her and her life. That has been my inspiration. I realised that in comparison to hers, my hardships and sorrows are negligible. Its a harcore performance oriented film. Rani (Mukherji) has been living the role for the past six months”
- For Black I needed someone who has experienced life to such a degree that he can convey it all through his eyes. I wanted to capture all that the man had gone through. I’ve always wanted to work with Amitji because his range is fascinating. and now I have the right script.
- I must add that both Rani and Amitji are alittle wary because they’ve both gone beyond what the audience normally expects from them. Their characters are that demanding. Sanjay L Bhansali.

The Queen Bee has been creating quite a buzz these days, and it’s all for the right reasons. Of course, even if we were snooping for some steamy gossip, we would have just heard Rani’s tinkling giggles in response - the lady has been carrying an ‘I-am-not-controversial’ tag for a while now. So, what we know of Rani makes a picture-perfect image, for the media at least. With no ‘black’ areas, almost. Except for the much-talked-about Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Black’. And one little birdie tells us that Rani’s role is one to watch out for in this one. It seems she plays the role of a blind, dumb and deaf girl; further, in some ways she portrays Helen Keller. How far that is true, we won’t give away right now; all we do know is that Rani can’t stop gushing about her role in the project. “I am really looking forward to this film. I think ‘Black’ will be another classic that will be remembered for generations to come. And it’s a delight to be directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, I don’t know how he can make every frame look so beautiful,” says Rani, bursting with joy. Well, for a star who almost gets blinded by the flashing lights of the tinselville, we wonder how it feels to be living in a ‘black’ dark world? Show us the light dear Rani.

Is Movie Black Based of the story of Helen Keller??
