Burglars loot Malaika, Arbaz house while they party
Malaika Arora and Arbaz Khan were busy attending the party on Tuesday, only to find their house burgled when they went back home. Belongings worth Rs 88,250, including diamond jewellery were stolen.
Dressed up as rock stars, Malaika and Arbaaz were among the many guests at the party that DJ Aqeel threw in honour of Zayed Khan only the after-effects of the enigmatic party went quite heavy on them.
Arbaaz and Malaika came home at 4 am. “As soon as we entered the house, it was quite apparent that someone had broken into the apartment. They took some cash from a wallet and some jewellery I had forgotten to put away,” said Malaika Arora-Khan. The couple’s three-year-old son was sleeping in the next room at the time of the incident. Their maid, Rani, who was also sleeping in the house, was unaware of the break-in.
“What shook us most was the realisation that someone could break into our home, especially when my son and the maid were in the other room. As parents, you can imagine our anguish when we realised what had happened. I’m just happy that everyone is okay,” Malaika said.
The building is currently under renovation, with scaffolding on three sides. Their housemaid had forgotten to close the grille doors which lead to the balcony. The police believe that was the way through which the burglar entered. The FIR was filed at the couple’s residence, itself.
The police have grilled the watchman and the housemaid. They will also question labourers working in the building. Vida Apartments has been getting a plaster job for the last eight months. The police believe the burglars used the bamboo scaffolding to enter the apartment. The couple hope the police will find the culprit soon.
