Actors Anupam and Kirron Kher are off screen couple and want to star as on screen couples.

Both of them will be starring in director Rakeysh Mehra much awaited movie ‘Rang De Basanti’ where Kirron Kher will be playing Aamir’s mother and Anupam will be father to Kunal Kapoor in the film. But they don’t share any scenes together.

The last time they were see together on screen was in 1988 film ‘Pestonjee’, directed by Vijaya Mehta. The couple also starred in Yash Chopra’s recent release ‘Veer Zaara’, but here too they had no scenes together.

Says Kirron, “I don’t know why people are not approaching us to do a film together. It would be lovely to do a film together but I guess the roles would have to be of equal importance.”

In Rang De Basanti, Kirron is playing a Punjabi woman who lives in a village. Talking about her role she said, “It’s a character of a rustic woman. She is Punjab personified. I have just two to three scenes but I wanted to be part of this project because I liked the concept of the film.”

“My role is more like a guest appearance where I am playing the father of one of the boys but I have no scenes with Kirron in the movie. We haven’t acted together for ages now” told Anupam.
