Esha Deol is going for image makeover, from a sweet girl next door image to a bold-sexy doll. Not just that the actress also changing her nice and sensible girl image (No Entry) to an obsessed lover. In her forthcoming venture ‘Ankahee’ Esha plays the role of Miss World, a beauty queen who falls in love with a married man played by Aftab Shivdasani and later become obsessed with him. Will her efforts prove worthwhile? Esha Deol talks about her role.

You are all set to change your image. Why?
Why not? If I do a bold scene or pose for a bold photograph, it doesn’t mean that I will take to wearing revealing clothes when I go for a walk to Juhu beach. I am sensible enough to know what to do on a particular occasion

Were you comfortable doing the backless shot for the promotion of the film?
I had a discussion with director Vikram Bhatt and producer Rongita Nandy, and I was convinced when they explained the reason for the shot to me. However, during the shooting of the film I threw everyone out of the studio, except Subi and Rongita.

Does her mother Hema Malini approve of her new ’sexy’ avtaar?
Now, you can’t expect me to wear the kind of costumes my mother used to wear in her films. You have to change with time and follow trends. I am not a trend-setter; I go along with the tide. I am here to do my work and not bring in revolution.

You are playing a woman Kavya in Ankahee obsessed with a married man. How you see this role?
Whenever you have a woman falling in love with a married man, people automatically feel that she plays the second fiddle in a relationship. But if you see it in perspective, it’s just another love story. In our society, we have these unwritten taboos which make no sense to me. I respect marriage as an institution but then, falling in love can’t be ‘logical’.

Are you justifying a woman falling in love with a married man?
If you’re talking about me, I will certainly not start looking for a married man to fall in love with, but if I ever fall in love with a married man, I wouldn’t have any regrets either. Love is blind and that is its most romantic aspect. Marriage is not just about legal bonds; it’s basically about a human relationship, about two people understanding each other. I think our society is mature enough today to understand that.

So, what is her expectation from the film?
I hope this film influences a lot of people. Seriously speaking, I have tried out a different kind of role and I hope people accept me in it.
