Festivals Navaratra and Id in Bollywood

Festivals Navaratra and Id in Bollywood

The current month of October will have some of the most awaited festivals of the year. The 12th of October will be the first of the nine days of Navaratra festival celebrated by Hindus.

The festival of Navaratra is marked by the dance performances by youngster holding Garbha sticks in hands. Garbha has been part of many Hindi movie songs and dances like the Dholi Taaro of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.

People gather at a place in the evening of Navaratra and the whole night dance is performed by couples. Preparation for Navaratra starts before the actual commencement of the festival.

Navaratra is also celebrated as the festival when people keep fasts and pray to the goddess .The T-Series Company has released many cassettes for many years on the festival of Navaratra.

14th of October will be celebrated as Id by the Muslim community. The whole month called the month of Ramzaan is considered to be sacred by the community and fasts are kept on the month of Ramzaan before the visibility of new moon on the day of Id.

The people do not watch movies in the sacred month of Ramzaan and on Id people enjoy and celebrate the festival. So it was expected that Jodha Akbar will be released on the commencement of Id to attract the Muslim audience. But due to delays the movie release has been postponed.

Both the festivals have been part of the Indian Film Industry. Not only the actors and actress belonging to different communities celebrate all these festivals, many Bollywood movie stories and songs are also based on these festivals.

The Bollywood is hugely affected by the commencement of the festive season as the whole month of Ramzaan as it affects the movie business negatively. As the final day of Id comes, again the audience from Muslim community can be seen in theatres. The Hindus have the start of Navaratra as the start of festive season and after Navaratra comes the Diwali month. All theses celebrations will have positive impact on the movie business.
