Fida Movie Review

Starring: Fardeen Khan, Sahid Kapoor, Kareena kapoor
Director: Ken Ghosh
Producer: Tips

Not all love stories have the perfect ending’ reads the tag line of TIPS latest production with ‘Ishq Vishk’ director Ken Ghosh’s much awaited film Fida.

Fida is one of the most awaited film of the year which will see the onscreen pairing of the real life lovebirds Kareena and Shahid Kapoor. Fardeen has to prove his mantle with this movie as his last two releases - Dev and Janasheen were duds at the box office. There was a lot of speculation regarding this movie in the trade, media and audience with nice songs and well executed promos.

So… what is the movie all about. Fida opens with the shots of an internet robbery being carried out by some shady hacker. The money is stolen from a company which is just a front for underworld don Anna Bhai’s black business. Anna is justifiable enraged and asks his goons to get him the guy who did that.

Next it narrates the story of Jai (Shahid Kapoor), an orphan and a self mad man who dreams about meeting his dream girl. And he bores Sonia (Kim Sharma), a girl who loves him, by telling her stories about the girl whom he would love. His dream comes true when he sees Neha (Kareena) crossing road. Jai traces out and kajols her to fall in love with him. She agrees. All things were going smoothly till the day when Neha tells Jai that her father was a criminal who had borrowed Rs. 60 million from the underworld. And now the underworld were after her to get there money back. Jai decides to loot a bank to save her love, Neha but at last minute changes a plan as he sees Vikram (Fardeen Khan). Fardeen Khan is a rich guy and is carrying Rs. 60 million to the back when Jai try to loot him. Vikram turns out to be Bruce lee cum Keanu Reeves straight out of Matrix and catches Jai. We get to know that the Rs 60 million vikram was carrying was the amount which was looted from Anna’s account. Jai tells the sob-story to Vikram and the reason behind his looting Vikram. Vikram tells him that he wont turn him over to police if he takes the blame of the internet heist over his head. To which Jai agrees.

Post interval we get to see Kareena entering Vikrams life and Vikram falling head over heal in love with kareena. After some gaana bajana the story seems to drag a bit and get boring when everything spins outta control with a twist. Remember the tag line of this movie!! And we ask ourself, does Kareena really loved Vikram? What are her motives? Who is behind the heist? Whats gonna happen next… and yes the movie has one of the most brilliantly executed climax. Ken Ghosh maintains his grip over the subject throughout the length of the movie. But the dialogues and screenplay fails him at several places. Shahid kapoor the handsome college going kid is growing up. In Fida he acts brilliantly though the much touted pairing of his with kareena is notthing much to write about. Kareena Kapoor is passable and Fardeen Khan manages a decent performances. In this movie each character had white and grey charactersctic, so everyone had the time to showcase there talents.

To sum it up Fida is no master piece but then it is far better than Tarzan - The wonder car and Kyun Ho gaya na.

Out of total score of 5 we give Fida a savvy 3
