Fida Music Review
After teaming up in Ishq Vishk, director Ken Ghosh and music director Anu Malik are back in Fida. To Malik’s credit, he produces a few crisp numbers, specially the ballads. But when he turns upbeat and sticks to the formula, he is predictable. Nazar Nazar (Udit Narayan-Sapna Mukherjee) is smartly arranged. Sameer’s lines ‘Nazar nazar, dhoonde usey meri nazar, aayegi ek din who mere saamne’ go well with the song’s melodic tune.
Of the other ballads, Aaj Kaho Sanam Jitna (Alka Yagnik-Kumar Sanu) has an R D Burman flavour. On Dil Mera Naa, Udit and Alka sing ‘Ishq hai to ishq ka izhaar kar’. On a peppier note, Aaja Ve Maahi caters to the masses, and even contains a neat rap stretch. But aren’t we tired of lyrics like “Aaja ve maahi let’s do balle balle”? Maine Jisko Chaaha is again trademark Malik. While Alisha is sadly getting typecast with such tunes, Sonu Nigam seems out of place here. Not the kind of album you’d go ‘fida’ about. But yes, it does have some fine moments.
