Filmmakers shouldn’t make a movie on Mumbai blasts

The recent Mumbai blasts had strong criticism from all sections of people and the change in political arena showed, government of India took it seriously to find a solution to the terrorism problem. A section of youngsters opposed the changes, saying it happened when elections is nearing. A set of SMSs and internet messages kept people together during the time of trouble.

One of the messages said that people don’t want film makers like Ram Gopal Varma, Mahesh Bhatt and Apoorva Lakhia to make a movie on this terrorizing event. A film like “Parzaania” was made on Gujarat and Godhra, that brought agony to section of society and it was awarded in many film festivals. A few other movies that showed Indian poverty kind of subjects got awarded in many film festivals.

Long back Nargis Dutt opposed the theme of making and awarding movies on themes of poverty. A section of Indian society in America stressed “Slumdog Millionaire” has scenes of poverty in Mumbai streets and that should not be projected in our movies. Generally when you show something in movies, it is considered that when you enter the country, you will see only these things.

A senior Indian official when met American politician, she was asked if she lived in huts. Its amazing people watch Pather Panchali and they think India has only huts. When they watch “Parzaania” they think Muslims are mistreated but they don’t think that the top Bollywood stars, politicians, engineers, doctors and officials in India are Muslims. If they are not getting educated in pricey higher educational systems, how are they at their places?
