Friday releases not to effect Box office giants

Friday releases not to effect Box office giants

Last week two movies were released and the two were Showbiz and Return of Hanuman. Though the movie Showbiz is a Bhatt movie, the movie has debuting cast and a story that is not getting too many viewers. After the December month only one movie can be said to show an increase in the collections it is making at the box –office and the movie is Taare Zameen Par. Some of the movies that were due to be released by December were postponed to get released in the year 2008 like the movie Halla Bol and My Name is Anthony Gonzalves

The Friday movie Return of Hanuman has a chance to show an increase in the number of audience for its good story and animations. The movie Showbiz has a least chance to make up in the coming week when some more movies are proposed to be released. The movie released a week before Taare Zameen Par and Welcome are performing better than the last Friday released.

Taare Zameen Par is getting huge appreciation from the viewers and critics for the powerful acting by the little kid Darshaeel and for the introduction of a new cinema concept into the Bollywood. The movie Welcome’s opening is comparable to the biggest three movies of the year .

The reasons for the huge opening are firstly the release happened on Christmas holiday week, secondly it is based on comedy subject and the movie was promoted for a lovely cast line.
The opening of the movie, Welcome was compared to Om Shanti Om that got Rs 40 crores in the opening week itself.

In the opening week, the Anees Bazmee’s film Welcome made huge collections not only in India but also in UK and it was estimated that the movie made a collection of 35 crores in its opening week.

But as the audience coming out of the theatres after watching Welcome are not giving encouraging reviews to keep the movie colleting well in the coming weeks. The box office collections for Welcome reduced after 3 to 4 days in India.

So the end of the year 2007 like many other years was not as such good for Bollywood and also not very good for Akshay Kumar who was getting compared to Shahrukh Khan even overseas on the release of Welcome, though the kid of the Aamir Khan movie, Taare Zameen Par can be compared to Shahrukh Khan and fare better in comparison.
