Veer Zaara Photo - 1
The movie talks about the trauma of partition. In true Yashraj tradition, it’s an emotional love story. ‘Rani Mukherji’ ’s character - Saamiya Siddiqui is based on Pakistani human rights activist and well-known lawyer Asma Jehangir. And she helps two lovers one from India - Veer aka Veer Pratap Singh (Shahrukh Khan)- and another one from Pakisan - Zaara aka Zaara Hayat Khan (Preity Zinta) - separate from each other due to strange circumstances to become one. The film Potrays what trauma these lovers go through and how love stands tall against all the boundries drawn by men.

Saamiya Siddiqui is a Pakistani lawyer and she has worked for women empowerment all her life. She believes in fighting wrong with truth, and as a challenge to her belief’s she is given the toughest case of her life as her first - the task of saving a man who has been languishing in Pakistani prison for past 22 years. The man hasn’t uttered a single word. Saamiya decides that she will get to the bottom of the case and as the case unfolds we get to know the story of Veer-Zaara.

That man is none other than Veer or Veer Pratap Singh (Shahrukh Khan) who used to be rescue pilot with the Indian Air Force. A person who loves life and is always out to help others. One fine day Sharukh Khan meets this stranded girl Zaara, a carefree, sprightly girl has come to India to fulfill her surrogate mother’s dying wish. She meets with a bus accident leaving her stranded in a foreign land. Veer is able to save her life but his life would never be same again.
