Plot Outline: The movie talks about the trauma of partition. In true Yashraj tradition, it’s an emotional love story. ‘Rani Mukherji’ ’s character is based on Pakistani human rights activist and well-known lawyer Asma Jehangir. And she helps two lovers one from India - Veer aka Veer Pratap Singh (Shahrukh Khan)- and another one from Pakisan - Zara aka Zara Hayat Khan (Preity Zinta) - separate from each other due to strange circumstances to become one. The film Potrays what trauma these lovers go through and how love stands tall against all the boundries drawn by men.
