Gafla wins an award at Cyprus film fest

Global market crisis caught attention of people across the world. The film ‘Gafla’ got released in 2006 and the film is catching attention of audience in the film festival. Recently the film got awarded in the 3rd Cyprus International Film Festival as the movie received Golden Aphrodite Medallion. The film has the story of market scam that was initiated by Harshad Mehta.
The story of the film “Gafla” is about a young ordinary man named Subodh who is a middle class guy and he has limited opportunities to survive but he is extremely ambitious and he dreams of doing big in life. Subodh has good intentions and he wants to make good money, to be successful and he starts investing money in stock market. He is brilliant and intelligent and he succeeds in making money.
But Subodh is at the mercy of rich and powerful players of the stock market. Subodh tries to overcome his bosses and he tries to become a big player himself. He goes ahead following every options to follow his dreams without considering his background although he is less in experience in the field and at a point of time, he looses grip of his professional success to loose everything.
The film stars Vinod Sharawat, Shruti Ulfat and Purva Parag and the film was released in 2006.The film did not get encouraging response on the box office although the director received the V Shantaram Award for best debuting director. The film got selected to the 50th London International Film Festival and it was also screened at the 38th International Film Festival of India.
