Director Priyadashan’s latest comic fare, Garam Masala has received an overwhelming response at the UK box office despite the fact that two other Bollywood films (Kyon Ki and Shaadi No. 1) released at the same time.

Screened in only 37 cinemas across the UK, Garam Masala debuted at number eight in the UK charts, grossing a whopping Pound Sterling 292,033 in its opening weekend.

Kyon Ki which stars Bollywood heartthrob Salman Khan entered the charts at number 11 after making Pound Sterling 171,566 during the same weekend. Meanwhile the third release, Shaadi No. 1 reached 14 in the UK charts making a miserly Pound Sterling 95,086.

So, Garam Masala turns out to be a clear winner.
