Gautam Buddha was born in Magadha in Bihar, India

Gautam Buddha was born in Magadha in Bihar, India
budha
CC2C is facing protest for showing ‘Buddha was born in India’ but why? Siddhartha was born to king of Kapilavastu in one village of Magadha, having capital Rajgir in today’s Bihar, India. Siddhartha, the name is Sanskrit, not spoken in Nepal, was born when his mother was on her way to Kapilvastu. Nepal formed in 1768 and Buddha was born in 563 BCE. There was no sign of Nepal even after 2000 years of Buddha’s birth.

  5. Well I will be polite in trying to criticize this post.

First Sanskrit not spoken in Nepal: who told you so? How many indians do you know who speak sanskrit today?

second Kapilvastu is in Bihar? Maybe, but does that Kapilvastu have the same remains of Buddha and Buddhism as the Kapilvastu of Lumbini Nepal?

You Indians donot know the general knowledge? Go back and read your history books.

  9. indians think that they can modify their history by becoming powrful in new millenium. but i want to ask them if they can erase their history of polishing english shoes. if they cant, who they are to talk about lord buddha, and india is disintergating due to religious contradictions

    Comment by MINESH GHIMIRE — 1/23/2009 @ 4:38 pm

  10. Ya? Well then show signs of India existing in 563BC. Sanskrit is not spoken in Nepal? Who says so? In case you don’t know Hindi and Nepali both derive from Sanskrit and they same the same Devnagari Lipi. I don’t know about any Magadha village but I do know that Kapilvastu is in Nepal. If what you say is correct then why do Buddhist pilgrim come to Lumbini to pay homage to Lord Buddha but not to Bihar.

I can’t deny that he became Buddha in India but no way will I ever accept that he was born in India. I think one day the Indians will start saying that Mount Everest is in India too.

Get your facts right before you go around giving your opinion.

  11. may be that is another ordinarty person named “Gautam buddha” not Lord Gautam Buddha. Coz, no one can born in two different place. He was born in Lumbini ,Kapalbastu, Nepal.
