Gurinder Chadha’s debut film ‘Bend It Like Beckham’ which was a huge hit is getting a sequel from the director herself. Most of the characters of ‘Bend It Like Beckham’ will return in the sequel, which is about Chadha’s life and her football career.

Gurinder confirmed, “I am making a sequel to Bend it Like Beckham. But I see it more as a continuation of the characters than an actual sequel. The first film was based on me when I was growing up, whereas this next one is going to be about my life afterwards”.

“I’m busy with another project at the moment, but after that I’m really looking forward to getting started on it,” she added. Her 2003 hit movie shaped the careers of actresses Keira Knightley and Parminder Nagra and the best friends Jess and Jules will apparently be back on the field.

Director Gurinder Chadha said the new film will follow the story of two teenage girls set on making it as professional footballers from where the original left off. Filming will kick start next year.
