Hrithik dragged to court over cheating allegation

A local Mumbai court has asked a film distribution company to file its response on a police report on its allegations of cheating against actor Hrithik Roshan, his father Rakesh Roshan and maternal grandfather J Omprakash, over distribution of their home production films.

The order was passed on Wednesday by Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate J B Pankhe.

The court had earlier ordered police to investigate the allegations levelled by M/S Popular Entertainment Network against Hrithik, producer Rakesh Roshan and film maker J Omprakash.

Jayantilal Gada of M/S Popular Entertainment Network had filed six complaints against Hrithik and his family alleging that his firm had been cheated by the Roshans who had backed out of their agreement with the film distribution company.

Police submitted its report on October 12 and the court on Wednesday asked the complainant to file its reply.

The high court had earlier stayed the arrest of the Roshans and referred the matter to the lower court.

According to Hrithik’s lawyer, Dipesh Mehta, police, in its report, has said that the Roshans have not committed any criminal violation of law and that the dispute between them and Popular Entertainment Network was of civil nature.
