Hyderabad Blues 2: Old wine in new bottle
Hyderabad Blues 2? Old wine in new bottle
This movie came with a lot of expectation. But well, it never could surpass the craziness the original created. Hyderabad Blues was a revelation. It started the trend of crossover movies. It proved that small budget amateurish movies can be success commercially. And the trend has been followed badly and even misused. But that movie created a cult that still exists.
Now the sequel. It continues 6 years after the original and it continues what HB 1 had. Funky 1 liners, almost obscene dialogues, and scenes you cannot watch with your family. And it was fun. But since you know what limits Nagesh Kukunoor can go to, you don’t get surprised by anything! The film is amateurish, has some excellent 1 liners, a funky song, lots of fake accents, funky cliches and interesting moments. Some of the scenes get a little out of hand, such as the sequences where Nagesh sees kids all around him and the way Ashwini (his wife in the movie) behaves and asks for a divorce even though you can seriously see that she does not believe in what she heard about Varun (Nagesh in the movie). In the end they both get back together, but after a divorce. You almost feel, they are mocking the institution of marriage.
The movie can be fun if you ignore the obvious. Ignore the stupidity. And enjoy the one liners, the adult humor and the situational comedy! Sing the song, Dil Pe Mat Le loudly when its playing and you know what weird having fun can be!
