I should open my own editing studio - Akshay Kumar
Akshay Kumar who is fast emerging as the comedy king with his performance in Garam Masala and now Dewaane Huey Pagaal is probably the only actor who edits his own scenes from his movies.
Other actors would go to any length to increase their roles but it has came to light that Akshay edited 20 minutes of his solo scenes from his latest release Dewaane Huey Pagaal.
Confirming the news, the actor says, “When we (Feroze Nadiadwala and Akshay) saw the film, we realised that the film was unnecessarily lengthy and for a fun film you need to have speed.”
“We had shot some action sequences in Dubai and some other sequences, which I felt were unimportant to the story. I suggested cutting the role to Ferozebhai. Finally it was his call,” says Akshay.
Incidentally, this is not the first time Akshay has taken such a decision. He had asked David Dhawan to edit a duet song with Priyanka Chopra from Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and certain sections of Garam Masala.
And there were accusations that he had chopped John Abraham’s role in Garam Masala. “Why just John?” he adds sarcastically, “I have edited Suneil Shetty’s role in Hera Pheri, I’ve edited Ajay Devgan and Tusshar Kapoor’s role in Khakee…I think the way I am going, I should open my own editing studio.”
But taking a serious tone he says, “I don’t take success or failure seriously. Hits and flops are part of the game, my job is to work hard and entertain my fans,” he justifies.
