Is Umrao Jaan Hot or cold

With so many directors craving to remake the film and with so many lead options available to play the role one would think that Umrao Jaan is something very special.

But that may not be the case!

We know that J.P.Dutta has already chosen Ash to play the role (Priyanka Chopra was the first choice for the film), immortalized by Rekha in the 1980s. But we came to know at the moment he is seriously concentrating on another movie that is based on the life of Maharani Gayatri Devi. It is also rumored that Dutta has abandoned the idea of making ‘Umrao Jaan’.

Afzal Khan had announced to make the same film starring Pak actress Meera in the role of Umrao Jaan. Now there is talk that Afzal Ahmed has dropped the film since Meera’s debut film in India, Nazar, proved a disaster at the box-office. It is also said that he is facing financial problem at present.

Meanwhile, there is a possibility that another producer has decided to make ‘Umrao Jaan’ with Tabu in the lead role but the news is not known to many in the industry.
