Martial arts hero Jackie Chan was in Mumbai for promoting his latest flick, The Myth. He was accompanied by Mallika Sherawat who shares a nine-minute cameo in the film.

Chan arrived in Mumbai late on Monday in a white Versace shirt and an orange turban to rose garlands and bhangra beats. From there on, Mallika (in sari) and her man were all over Mumbai promoting their movie.

“It was Mallika who told me how crazy people are about me here,” Jackie said. “She taught me Indian dancing steps, showed me around and taught me the traditions of the country.”

Jackie Chan said that he is keen to make his presence felt in Bollywood. Chan said, “I plan to do movies with Bollywood actors and producers in the near future. We are looking at a huge industry and vast audiences. “India and China are the big markets of the future, with over 2.5 billion people residing here,” he said.

Chan plays a double role in “The Myth” - an archeologist and a Qin Dynasty warrior over two millennia ago. Sherawat plays an Indian princess who is rescued by Chan. “The movie is doing well in the Far East,” Chan said, where it was released recently.

He had praises for Bollywood sex siren, “Malika was surprisingly good given she is such a beautiful woman,” said Jackie, admitting that he didn’t cast her for her acting abilities. “Even though we had a body double for her, she insisted on doing her own stunts in the film. She kept crying but she also kept trying. I really respect her for that.”

And Mallika admiration for her international co-star was no less, “One day I will tell my grandchildren that I got to act with the most famous Chinese man on this planet.” So is their anything that will see them both together in near future, “We will definitely work together again,” Jackie smiled.

The trip also saw Jackie making a handsome donation to Mira Nair’s Salaam Baalak Trust for the betterment of street children of Mumbai.
