Job loss and economic meltdown doesn’t effect Bollywood

Global economic crisis has hit Hollywood where many studios are preparing to cut investments on producing movies in the coming years because the audience who are loosing jobs will not have enough funds to invest on entertaining themselves and the movies will not get expected benefits on investments but Bollywood has no such plans.

In fact Bollywood has joined hands with many corporate houses and Hollywood studios who are preparing to make more movies in the coming years. Bollywood is least effected by Hollywood trends and market crisis. One of the reasons could be low investment required in making a Bollywood movie when compared to Hollywood cinema. The Bollywood movies makers are convinced that they can continue to get benefits from making movies because the box office collections of Bollywood movies are just 20 -30 % of the total earning on investment.

Bollywood movies generally earn from sales of music CDs, DVDs, television rights and theatrical screening. In Hollywood movies, generally the sale of music CDs is not seen. Many corporate houses have started investing in making films like the Reliance Anil Ambani groups who even tied up with Hollywood houses.

Other than Ambani’s who have five years plan to invest in entertainment sector , approved Cinema Capital Venture Fund (CCVF) has also joined cinema with a investment of Rs 700 crore, IDBI banks is funding more than 50 films and many other private players have joined the industry, that even increased competition in market. Even the market trend of job loss in not visible in Bollywood because as the investment increases, more and more films are being made, and more vacancies are getting created.
