Koel Purie: Set to Storm Bollywood
Koel Purie: Set to Storm Bollywood
If the films she has done - ‘Everybody Says I’m Fine’, ‘White Noise’ and the forthcoming ‘American Daylight’ - are indicators, one would ideally think that this actress walks a different street. But after sipping from this cup, Koel Purie is all set to slurp up the masala chai Bollywood has to offer. Her first all-out commercial flick, Soni Razdan’s ‘Nazar’, will release soon, and the actress will shortly start shooting for another typical Bollywood movie titled ‘Dil Deke Dekho’.
She tells us, “I agree that the only history I have of cinema here is a particular genre of cinema - a niche one. But I refuse to be boxed into any category. I will do cinema all over the world. I will do Hindi mainstream cinema, because I have grown up with Bollywood and I love it.
Also, I am from Delhi, so I am very comfortable with Hindi. But it’s no point screaming from rooftops that I am open to doing all kinds of films. Actions speak louder than words. So eventually, when people see me opting for different films, they will change their minds anyway.” Well, there’s always room for one more in Bollywood!
