Madhur Bhandarkar, whose critically acclaimed film ‘Page 3′ that had won three National awards for Best Film, Best Screenplay and Best Editing, is upset and unhappy for not getting any award or recognition at the popular awards (Filmfare or Zee Cine). This makes him feel like an orphan in this industry.

Hurtful of this treatment
I don't know why my film didn't get any award or recognition at the popular awards. I don't have a lobby nor do I have a coterie, I don't even have big stars in my film to back me up. May be that's why my film was ignored at all the award functions. Even after making such an original film, I feel like an orphan in this industry.

Consoles himself
I am glad that they at least considered my film worthy of nomination. Most of the awards went to Black and Parineeta, and they were well-made films. But it hurts when your effort is not rewarded. I don't make films from foreign DVDs, so I need a morale boost to do better work.

Bhandarkar’s claim of originality
Recently Rituparno Ghosh alleged Bhandarkar claims of originality by saying that Govind Nihalni’s Party was based on the same genre. But Bhandarkar retorts -
I respect Rituparno as a filmmaker and he is entitled to his opinion. But I would like to draw his attention to the fact that Govindji's film was based on a one-night party incident, my film had plots and sub-plots. My film dealt with a culture which didn't exist when Govindji made the movie.

Finally succumbed to the star power in Corporate
If that was the case, I wouldn't have signed newcomer Kunal Khemu for my next film 'Signal'. Besides, I work hard on each and every actor, regardless of whether he or she is a star or not. I had to work on Tabu, Raveena, Konkona and Bipasha.
