Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh orders inquiry as skeletons emerge from Salman Khans closet

Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh said here on Thursday that an inquiry would be conducted into the issue of Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s link with underworld.

Deshmukh assured the House that he would make a statement on the issue raised by Opposition members who demanded that Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) be applied against Salman for his alleged threats and links with the underworld. The controversy arose when a local newspaper carried a story based on the telephonic conversation between Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai and Salman Khan in which the actor allegedly threatened Aishwarya Rai with “dire consequences” if she failed to attend specific events linked to the underworld. BJP legislature party Gopinath Munde, , said Mumbai police had in its possession tapes of purported mobile phone conversation between Salman and Aishwarya, his ex-girlfriend, in which the actor had threatened her if she did not attend events linked to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and his aide Chhota Shakeel.

In the tape, transcripts of which were published in a Mumbai newspaper, Salman allegedly threatened Aishwarya saying ‘the underworld keeps tabs on you whenever you are abroad’. Salman is also purportedly quoted as telling Aishwarya that he knew about the Mumbai blasts in advance and that he had links with Dawood. Mumbai police is ascertaining the veracity of a telephonic conversation between both the stars.

Transcript of the Taped Conversation between Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai:

These telephone conversations between Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai were recorded between August 28 and 30, 2001.

Ash was supposed to leave for a long tour of the United States. Salman starts calling her on the eve of her departure.

The conversations start friendly enough, but rapidly degenerate into threats, boasts and abuse.

Salman: I did this role because I was scared of Chhota Shakeel…

Aishwarya Rai: Hello.

Salman Khan: I want you to do the Abu Salem show. Hello?

Salman: When I told you to do the Salem show you put the phone down. F**k you. You are doing the Salem show because of me. I asked you to do
the Salem show. You are not talking to me.

Ash: F**k you.

Salman: You f***ing *****. Are you doing the Salem show or not? I want to know whether you are doing the Salem show or not.

Ash: Oh really, you got drunk.

Salman: Are you doing the Salem show or not? Abu Salem show or not? Abu Salem show or not?

Ash: Your phone is tapped.

Salman: You know my phone is tapped. I want to save my own ass, you f***ing b***h. I would like to know whether you are doing the show or not.

Ash: You’re too late.

Salman: You know Chori Chori Chupke Chupke? I was the only one who knew it was a Chhota Shakeel film.

Ash: Listen, listen. Now stop it, Salman.

Salman: I will call up Salem and compromise. You don’t know anything that is happening. It is a big bad world. You don’t know the connectivity of the underworld. No, listen to me. Is this tape for real or just an attempt by various interests to gain some cheap publicity (As claimed by Salman Khan’s lawyer) remains to be seen, but there is no denying the fact that the tales of connections between Underworld and Bollywood are for real.

Salman Khan is not new to controversies (Black Buck case, Road Rage case etc etc.) and his involvement in yet another one draws our attention to girth in the Film Industry.
