Mira Nair starts shooting The Namesake in New York

Mira Nair commenced the shooting of her new film ‘The Namesake’, in New York last week . It is based on Jhumpa Lahiri’s novel of the same name and the screenplay has once again been written by Mira’s old associate Sooni Taraporewala.

Starring Kal Penn, Tabu and Irrfan Khan, it is being produced by Lydia Dean Pitcher with whom Mira had co-produced ‘Hysterical Blindness’ for Searchlight Pictures . UTV’s Ronnie Screwala is the executive producer .
