Humko Tumse Pyaar Hai - a romantic melodrama

Late Bunty Soorma long delayed project Humko Tumse Pyaar Hai will hopefully get its release soon. The film was originally started by Bunty Soorma but upon his unfortunate death, it was completed by Vikram Bhatt, as a tribute to his close friend. This romantic film has a love triangle which has been repeated in many old time hits. The story begins in a little village of Rajasthan, where a blind girl called Durga (Amisha Patel) lives with her mother (Suhasini Mulay). Despite her disability, Durga has the gift of making beautiful clay statues - a skill she learnt from deceased father. Like everyone, handsome Rohit (Arjun Rampal) who works for a chemical company, get impressed by Durga’s art and beauty. Soon both fall in love with each other.

One day, an amoral villager named Rana (Parmeet Sethi) takes advantage of Durga’s handicap and attempts to rape her. Luckily Rohit comes to her rescue, which leaves a furious Rana making all sorts of threats against Rohit. Rohit decides that he will take Durga out of her handicap. He save enough money for her treatment and later take her to an eye hospital, where Dr. R.K. Prasad (Kawaljeet) performs a surgery on her eyes. The operation proves to be successful, but before the bandage is taken off from Durga’s eyes, Rohit goes to arrange for their wedding. On the way, Rana and his friends try to kill Rohit, and in this incident, both Rana and Rohit die.

When Durga learns about Rohit’s death, she tries to commit suicide, but is saved by Dr. Prasad. She relates her story to Dr. Prasad who now considers her to be his daughter. He goes to Switzerland for work and takes her along to recuperate her from the tragic loss. In Switzerland, Durga meets Raj (Bobby Deol) a rich businessman. At their first meeting, Raj falls in love with Durga. He tries to get close to Durga but she does not reciprocate his feelings. Unable to convince Durga to let go of the past, Raj takes her to his house to reveal his own past sorrow. He shows her the photographs of his dear friend who happens to be none other than Rohit.

Dr. Prasad convinces Durga that Raj is a very good boy and that he wants to get married to her. Durga agrees to get married to Raj and so the family prepares for the wedding. Raj and Durga get engaged. Raj now comes to know that his childhood friend, Rohit is still alive. Raj brings Rohit home and introduces him to Durga, Rohit is stunned to see Durga there, but Durga does not recognize him as she has never seen him. What will Rohit do now? He has to choose between his love and friendship. Will Durga recognize him? If yes, then what would be the reaction of Raj? Look out for these emotional twists and turn on 24 February 2006.
