The story of the movie Stoneman is about a criminal who is a serial killer and is taking lives of people one by one without getting caught by the police and the police are unable to get a clue about who the serial killer is. The characteristics of the serial killer are that he uses the same method and technique to kill all his victims. The similarity in the way the killings are carried out makes the police to believe that the criminal is one person. The name of the movie is Stoneman because the criminal kills his target with a stone.

The story starts as the stoneman kills his fifth target and the way the killing has been done is similar to the earlier ones. The man killed his fifth target by hitting with a stone when the target was sleeping. The police is unable to get a clue about who is killing people with stones and the police sub inspector Sanjay gets suspended over the case.

Sanjay is hurt for not getting the culprit behind the killings and tries secretly getting the suspect. Sanjay is helped by his senior police office AIG Satam and many events finally lead Sanjay to get a clue into the case. The Inspector Kedar Phadke who is offered to handle the case after Sanjay is removed finds that at all the places where the killings are happening Sanjay is present and the inspector starts suspecting that Sanjay is the serial killer.

The inspector and suspended Sub Inspector are fighting amongst themselves over the case and the stone man finds himself free to carry out his mission of killing people. The story is about how the stoneman gets traced.
