“8×10 Tasveer” is a supernatural suspense thriller where the hero possessing supernatural powers tries to find out the reason behind his father’s death. The film starts in a fine way to get you interested but the second half of the film is extended and the climax part is disappointing. Performance of Akshay Kumar in the film is very different from his previous movies as for the first time his facial expressions are very serious. Music of the movie is ok. Most of the shots of the film have been taken in a Hollywood style as the story of the film is based in Canada.

The story of the movie is about a man Jai Puri who is a forest ranger in EPS and he is possessed with super natural powers and he gets the supernatural powers after some kind of incident. He did not have normal relations with his father Jatin Puri who is a businessman owning an empire to manage. Jai is against his father’s ways of managing his business. Jai possesses the supernatural powers by which he can tell about the past of a photograph and when he does it, he suffers death inflicting sequences. He requires blood transfusion after it and he has to be hospitalized.

Jai’s father Jatin dies in an accident after falling from boat and while Jatin was present in the boat, he was accompanied by all the people who had stake in his business that included his wife Savitri, a friend Anil who has soft corner for Savitri, Adit and Sundar. All the people in boat see Jatin falling and dying and after his death Jai gets supernatural feeling that his father did not die but he was killed in the incident.

Jatin’s mother Savitri informs Jai that his father was planning to transfer all his properties to an organization EPS and as the movie show various people suspected of killing Jai’s father , a love track between Jai and Sheela is also shown. Sheela is the girl with whom Jai is into a live-in relationship and they get married.

How Jai is going to search for the culprit and get the person behind the killing of his father - is the basic plot of the film? The only way he knows is to look into the photograph clicked by Savitri Puri, his mother when they were going on boat, which depicts four people his father, Sunder, Adit and Anil.

The movie has some fun moments from Happy who is a detective and he believes that Jai’s father has been murdered. Initially the movie starts with some interesting story like you have in a suspense thriller with supernatural elements, but the climax is fooling. After initial two hours of suspense the expectation for climax gets high but the story gets slow in the second part and climax just don’t satify. Music by Salim – Suleiman is ok.

Editing of the movie is ok, that mostly puzzles you. Dialogues don’t appear to be Canada based. Cinematography is fine and locations are good. Performance of Akshay Kumar is very different from what he has been doing in his last few movies and that is appraisable. Most of the other actors Ayesha Takia, Girish Karnad, Sharmila Tagore and Ananth Mahadevan are added to increase confusion about the real killer but they generally don’t create much interest. Javed Jaffery’s portions are best amongst others.

The movie is a family film although it is very confusing at some points. The movie should reap benefits for being the single release of the week and from the fact that it has been released in holiday season.
