The film “Hastey Hastey” is not at all hilarious in fact the movie has an extremely confusing and aimless script. The presence of a few comic moments can not be ruled out but not a show that keeps you engaged for three hours or even two hours. The music of the film is weak and star attraction is not present in the film and what is good in the movie is shoot locations and presence of Rajpal Yadav, but the role offered to Yadav cannot be compared to “Hungama” or “Chup Chup Ke” role. The comedy is not situational but it is imposed. Instead of the comedy part in Hastey - Hastey the serious stuff is funny.
The story of the film is about Neel who is a good student of Columbia University and he is in love with co-student of the university Maya and after the college studies both decide to marry. Maya belongs to a good Indian family of America and Neel is struggling in his professional career to grow and he has a friend Sunny who is his room-mate and both decide to go to India to set up a call centre against the wishes of Maya.
Neel sets up a call centre in India with the help of Sunny and in India Tanvi, a young executive goes out of her way to help Neel and later Tanvi says that she is in love with Neel, though Neel rejects her love proposal. Tanvi gets hurt for rejection and she plots against Neel that makes him suffer not only in personal front but also professionally.
The director Toony, is himself not clear of the script and nothing in the film is striking. No moment make you laugh even for 5 minutes and none of the other emotions depicted in the film is effective. There is no climax or touching sequence.
The performance of Rajpal Yadav is good and Jimmy Shergill is ok and the actresses are just average. The film has no attraction to call audience except the name that may make the audience going to theatre feel that it is comedy film.
Rating: 4/10
