Movie Review: Kismat Konnection

The film Kismat Konnection shows onscreen chemistry of Shahid and Vidya through a romantic fun script but the script itself needed a lot of alteration to enhance the entertainment part in the movie and to eliminate the slow pace of the film. The film is similar to Hollywood movie “Just My Luck” having lead actors Lindsay Lohan and Chris Pine, another hindi movie “Good Luck” is being made on the same script. The film “Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na” was for teens and “Kismat Konnection” is for youth above college ages.

The first part is admirable filled with situational comedy but the second part required improvement and the climax is dramatic but fine. The music is entertaining especially the title number and performance of Shahid and Vidya is unsurpassed.

In the first half of the story ,Raj Malhotra ,who is out of college, is convinced that he is the next big thing into this world and he is even touted by his friends for being a famous boy of the college winning most of the trophies and being an all rounder in the college. After getting out of the college, the architect, Raj realizes that his every effort was turning futile because even after five years of his completion of college he is still not getting break of his life, needed to change his living.

Everything, fixed and arranged, gets chaotic at the very crucial moments of his life. He is not getting an opportunity to change his life and
His alarm clock stops working on time
The boss of the company, who is to give him the break, dies.
His car stops working.
And many other incidents make his feel that his fate is not working well.

Raj watches an advertisement in which an astrologer Haseena Bano Jaan claims that she will change every body’s fate for betterment and when Raj reaches funny Haseena played by Juhi Chwla, she tells Raj that he will meet someone who will change his fate and she will be the lucky charm of his life.

Raj meets Priya (the lucky girl) many times (at a shop, on road) and whenever Raj meets her he finds that his jobs are getting done smoothly. Raj gets the contract with Gill ,who hands him to construct a shopping Mall at a place where Priya is trying to get constructed a hospital for elderly and Priya is also preparing to get married to one of her friend.

Raj realizes that Priya is the girl, the lucky charm of his life and he falls in love with her. But Priya is engaged and to get her, Raj will have to get rid of the other man engaged to Priya and second he needed to prove his professional skill by constructing the Mall. How Raj proves the infidelity of the man engaged to Priya and what is constructed at the place, is the story of the film.

The fun element is predominant in the film but the screenplay is average and music has only two – three songs that are entertaining and exciting. Even the choreography of all the songs is not very outstanding. The dance places looks overcrowded and the screens are not neat. The fun part has been maintained in the music. The slow part of second half is another disadvantage of the film and the script also has a few weaknesses. Aziz Mirza has experience in comedy romantic but the screen looks were less glamorous.

The performance of Shahid is as ever brilliant and Vidya too excels though Vidya is not looking sensational in the film and both the actors have effective self impostures then getting it together. Even the supporting casts Vishal Malhotra, Juhi Chwla and Himani Shivpuri as Om Puri`s wife and Om Puri are imposing in their limited roles.

The film is an entertainer and will get audience in multiplexes and small towns and the film will compete with “Jaane Tu..” And divert the audience to itself who are above the teenagers.
