Movie Review Laaga Chunari Mein Daag directed by Pradeep Sarkar

The movie story is about a family whose head is the father who is a professor in a college, mother and two young daughters living in a small town Banaras. The elder daughter is Badki and younger is called Chutki.

Badki leaves the small town of Banaraas to get a job in a metro city like Mumbai due to financial crisis in her family. She tries to get job in Mumbai but finally turns into a call girl and changes her name to Natasha. She earns money to help her younger sister study well and one day her sister gets job in the same city, where they confront each other. How the family will react when they realize what Badki is into prostitution and the effect on the love lives of the daughters is depicted in the movie.

The movie is based on a woman related social issue and the director has proved his skills at it. The technical specifications and looks of all the Yash Raj movies are always good, No doubt on presentation and beautiful locations with some good songs. Writing and the script fails many times and gets unrealistic.

It looks as if for less educated girls from small town the only option is to get into prostitution. In fact the script should have less educated girls from small town performing well after their struggle in a big town to get things in their favor. Even the end is not convincing that results in an average movie to watch.

The acting by the lead actress both Rani and Konkona Sen Sharma is great. Jaya Bachchan and Anupam Kher are also good in their roles. Kunal is also lovely in a few scenes like when he proposes to Konkana Sen and the dance number. Abhishek is good. In the festive season the movie will be watched by the people.
