Music Review No Smoking

The movie by Vishal Bhardwaj No Smoking is unconventional movie giving a lesson in a light mood to those into cigarette smoking. The director has always made movies and music out of the track and some really good movies like Omkara.

The music of the movie No Smoking has been directed by Vishal Bharadwaj and the lyrics are of Gulzar. The songs written by Gulzar always have exceptionally lovely and meaningful lyrics and combination is definitely good for any album.

There have been many popular cigarette songs in the past like Cigrette Ke Dhuye Mein or the old Black and White song, Har Phikr Ko Dhuyein Mein Urata Chala Gaya. No Smoking album also has the cigarette smoking in its songs.

Jab Bhi Cigarette – The first song of the album is the title song sung by Adnan Sami that has lovely lyrics narrating the negative effects of smoking and the impasse of a person addicted to smoking, the one who doesn’t cares for the bad effect of smoking. This one is just as effective as the title song of Omkara - Sabse Bade Laraya Re Omkara!

Jab Bhi Cigarette (Version II)-The last song of the album is again the title song having a female voice of Sunidhi Chauhan and it is again an entertaining disco kind of song.

Phoonk De –The song of Omkara Jabaan Pe Lagaa was sung by the singer Rekha Bhardwaj and Phoonk De also has the same singer. This is also a very good song. Sukhwinder Singh has also been given the last part of the song to sing. Gulzar is at his best in writing this song.

Kash Laga –The song again on cigarette smoking has been sung by Sukhwinder Singh, Daler Mehndi and Vishal Bhardwaj. This is one of the situational songs and a good one.

Ash Tray - Deva Sen Gupta has sung this song and the song has the messages for smokers.

All the songs are good and Jab Bhi Cigarette is a party song. More of western music has been added in the songs.
